Baseball caps: Fans looking skyward at tall pop flies at some baseball games might be greeted with an unsettling sight-the stadium's roof chugging along at 1ft/s, closing before their eyes
Article Abstract:
Two new stadiums in Houston and Seattle will feature roofs in sections that can open and close. The Safeco Field design in Seattle features roof sections that move along rails extending beyond the east wall of the park, so that when it is open, the sections are not visible to the spectators. The Ballpark at Union Station in Houston will feature box trusses that pitch slightly in their center, and the left field wall will slide open.
