Green Sentinels: Frogs raise a red flag over pesticides and environment health

Article Abstract:

Frogs, especially tadpoles are sensitive to environmental stress hence pesticides and other stressors such as UV radiation, acid rain, fertilizers, parasites or disease, can disrupt metamorphosis. Because they are so sensitive to stressors, many environmental scientists view frogs as sentinels of the health of the environment.

The mascots of Sable Gully

Article Abstract:

Efforts to conserve the marine flora and fauna of the Scotian Shelf, Canada, have focused on the northern bottlenose whale, Hyperoodon ampullatus. The campaign fought by conservationists, such as the World Wildlife Fund, to keep drilling sites out of Sable Gully, is described.
