Article Abstract:

The PCAST report on funding for research stressed a recommitment to the teaching-centered approach. Federal funds for research will decrease. Universities must take a hard look at the quality of present programs. The US must no longer pay part of faculty salaries but should continue to pay all research costs.

Article Abstract:

"Cellular and Molecular Biology" is being published by two different publishers who both claim that their version is the legitimate one. Publisher Raymond Wegmann began publishing the journal at his own expense when Elsevier Science Publishing Company Inc's Pergamon Press, the journal's owner, fired him.
