Advances in genetic technology have enabled experts to use bacterial pore forming proteins to counteract foreign cells. Alpha-hemolysin, for example, allows pores to be created on membranes to provide the entry of drugs or detect the presence of toxic chemicals.

The longest suspension bridge

Article Abstract:

The Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, the world's longest pontoon, serves as a link between Japan's main islands including Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu and Shikoku. The bridge, whose entire span measures 3,910 meters, was constructed with a $4 billion budget.
