Chilling Logic
Article Abstract:
IBM will no longer research Josephson junction for computer design, but the Electrotechnical Laboratory at Ibaraki, Japan continues its research. High speed, low power, and high density are attributes of Josephson junctions. Japan's technique uses all-refractory materials and reactive ion etching for its Josephson junction manufacture because the materials used must be stable between just above absolute zero to 300 degrees Celsius. An example using the all-refractory process is highlighted.
