Cities see golden opportunity in brownfields redevelopment program
Article Abstract:
Plans are being made to redevelop abandoned industrial sites located in 15 cities in the US. Efforts are being made to measure the level of contamination in the areas and involve local residents in redevelopment activity. Public and private funds may be utilized for economic development. EPA has given two-year grants of $200000 to 15 cities, some of which are Detroit, Louisville and New Orleans.

Pennsylvania boosts incentives for brownfields redevelopment
Article Abstract:
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection proposes a land-recycling program under which grants and loans are provided to landowners intending to remediate contaminated industrial properties. The article discusses the impact of this program on the the Bethlehem Steel Corporation's plan to redevelop 160 acres of land which was part of a steel production plant.
