Suicides in Hong-Kong and Singapore: a tale of two cities
Article Abstract:
A study focused on suicide statistics from Hong Kong and Singapore over the period 1984-1994. Results showed the similarity between suicide behaviors in both countries. A direct relationship was found between suicide rates and age, with a sharp increase found among the elderly. Low teenage suicide was found, as well as a low male to female ratio. Jumping from heights was the most common method of suicide.

The US government has granted permission to private companies to sell high-resolution satellite images, similar in image-quality to those taken by military intelligence satellites. EarthWatch Corp. and Orbital Sciences Corp. are some of the companies planning to launch their own imaging satellites.

The hunger for pleasure drives the appetite more than the physiological need for food does, so people tend to eat for the fun of it, rather than for nourishment. Dieters can use this pleasure-seeking tendency as a dieting tool by taking part in pleasurable activities that do not involve food.
