New nerve cells for the adult brain

Article Abstract:

Researchers have discovered that the brain of the human adult produces new nerve cells that might hold the secret to neuronal regeneration. Previously, neurobiologists thought that the adult brain cannot repair itself due to lack of stem cells that would allow for regeneration of neurons. The new findings could pave the way for the treatment of neurological diseases.

Mind and brain: the biological foundations of consciousness, memory and other attributes of mind have begun to emerge; an overview of this most profound of all research efforts

Article Abstract:

Mental phenomena can be traced to patterns of nerve impulses in the brain. Mental events, such as memory and sensation, and the anatomy and function of nerve cells are discussed in detail.
