New products introduced at computing conference

Article Abstract:

Many new products were introduced in A/E/C systems '93, the annual computer and management show for design and construction industry held in June, with the theme of 'Advanced Technology Goes Mainstream.' It was stated that Windows NT-based products would be released in the end of 1993 by developers such as Autodesk Inc., California and Intergraph Corp. Huntsville, Ala. Cyberscope, a three dimensional viewing device was one of the exhibits of Simsalabim Systems Inc., California. An inexpensive mapping and management technology code-named Anaheim was demonstrated by Autodesk.

Why design methodologies are difficult to implement

Article Abstract:

Significant factors in encouraging the more extensive implementation and use of design methodologies are considered. One factor is the availability of software tools that are simple to use and support the approach being used.

Considering an object-oriented approach to design process planning

Article Abstract:

The structure of an environment for a design system based on a design plan, representing a design process, is presented. The importance of the designer having full control over the plan execution process is emphasized.
