Pushing for power cuts

Article Abstract:

New techniques in the efficient use of energy have led to better quality besides saving costs and decreasing pollution. Energy efficiency technique can result in a 20% reduction in energy bills by the year 2000. The Energy Efficiency Office (EEO), functioning under the Department of Environment, has devised the Energy Management Assistance Scheme (EMAS) to provide consultation for improving energy efficiency. EEO's Energy Technology Support Unit has advocated positive management strategies through its program 'Making a Corporate Commitment.' Techniques such as induction healing, electric air knife technology and improved plant and equipment have led to efficient energy use, increased production and considerable savings in the energy bill.

Research gets results

Article Abstract:

Research at Sandia National Laboratory shows that fuel and air are well-mixed when combustion starts, and the liquid fuel fails to hit the combustion chamber under ordinary conditions. The research engine developed to analyze the combustion process has quartz windows and uses laser diagnostic methods. Design improvements in the rotary internal combustion engine, based on the scissors action rotary engine, will lead to less sound and nearly vibration free function. A misfire detection sensor detects engine velocity changes due to misfire.
