Absolute encoder AC motor arrives in UK
Article Abstract:
Yaskawa's HR Series motors use the absolute encoder system, allowing them to remember position even after losing logic power. THe usual incremental system of AC motors loses position when it loses power. Yaskawa's motors require no gears, using a one count per revolution sensor and a multi-bit absolute encoder for 8192 x 4 pulses per revolution. The sensor runs off a 3V battery during power-downs. Micromech will market the range in the UK.
