Bickerstaffe hunts for a father and uncovers a family
Article Abstract:
Rodney Bickerstaffe, leader of Unison, the largest trade union in the UK, has finally discovered the truth about his family background. He was born during the second world war following a brief relationship between his mother and a man from Ireland. His mother later married another man, and he did not begin to ask questions about his real father until after this man's death in 1990. He discovered that his real father had died in 1991, but he was able to make contact with three half-brothers.
