Switch in time

Article Abstract:

The increasing popularity of computer networks is giving rise to new challenges in the fields of computer hardware, software and communications. User requirements for data transfer between computers are rising rapidly and computer firms have responded through the release of faster computers. However, the speed of data transfer in the communication channels has failed to improve at the same rate as that of the processors. Engineers are trying to solve this problem through the development of new switching technologies such as the Asynchronous Transfer Mode, Fast Ethernet and others.

Right before your eyes

Article Abstract:

Technological advances in computer-aided-design (CAD) software have resulted in computer graphics with high visualization capabilities. These new programs represent the response of CAD software developers to the increasing customer demand for computer programs that are able to depict complex products and processes in great detail and as realistically as possible. These new software can be used for a host of applications that include detail analysis such as interference checking while being able to provide a wholistic view of the whole design.

Exchange controls

Article Abstract:

The exchange of computerized data becomes routine work with technological breakthroughs that solve the problems of the translation and interpretation of data. The development of the Standard for the Exchange of Product Data (STEP) software solves the problems of geometric data flow. Similarly, OLE D&M efficiently works in a microsoft environment. The transfer of graphical design data between dissimilar systems becomes quite easier with these developments.
