The earliest art becomes older - and more common
Article Abstract:
Australian archeologist Rhys Jones believes that human beings landed in Australia 60,000 years ago and that they were painting at that time. His idea contradicts earlier research that indicates that Australians arrived only 10,000 years ago and that paintings did not occur until 40,000 years ago.

Life's last domain: with the genome of the archaeon Methanococcus jannaschii sequenced, researchers now have genomes for life's three domains
Article Abstract:
A team at the Institute for Genomic Research has completely sequenced Methanococcus jannaschii, an archaeon, the third major branch of life sequenced, along with bacteria and eukarya. An astonishing 56% of the microbes 1738 genes are unlike any ever seen in bacteria, plants or animals.
