To save a salmon
Article Abstract:
Fisheries scientists in Vancouver Island, Canada, are conducting research into the possibility of commercial fishing techniques which could revive the decreasing population of coho and chinook salmon. In their most recent study, they killed some of the fishes to sample their blood in order to measure stress.

X-ray photoelectron spectrography (XPS) is being used in immunotherapy research for new cancer treatments. XPS allows greater observation of the surface of mutated mucin molecules and the variant degree to which these trigger immune system responses.

Scientists have discovered that the size of North Pacific salmon returning to spawn in Pacific Rim rivers have progressively declined since 1975. The reduction in size was found to be accompanied by a corresponding increase in number.
