Effects of oral estrogen and progestin on the lower urinary tract among female nursing home residents
Article Abstract:
32 female nursing home residents were given oral estrogen and progestin to see if it caused any improvement in their incontinence and other urinary tract problems. No improvement was seen after 3 months or at 6 months.

The article examines the issue of patient compliance and treatment of urinary incontinence. It is posited that since self-evaluation of the impact of incontinence varies greatly from patient to patient, targeting treatment methodologies becomes necessary.

Antimuscarinic drugs for overactive bladder and their potential effects on cognitive functions in older patients
Article Abstract:
A study on the affect of antimuscarinic agents, used for treating overactive bladder (OAB) in elderly, leading to cognitive dysfunction, is presented. The roles of cholinergic system in the central nervous system (CNS), via M1 cholinergic receptors and M2 cholinergic receptors, which are thought to bring about major changes in cognition, are also analyzed.
