Article Abstract:
This article examines the challenges associated with conducting research using geriatric patients in a hospital setting. Findings indicate that interview interruptions and delays, obtaining timely access to geriatric subjects, and conducting interviews with others present posed the most significant challenges to conducting accurate geriatric research with hospitalized elderly subjects.

Article Abstract:
A study of 130 elder patients in the medical intensive care unit were evaluated for cognitive impairment using two different proxy tests. The proxy tests, the Modified Blessed Dementia Rating Scale and the Informant Questionnaire on Cognitive Decline in the Elderly, had a high level of agreement and identified 42% of the patients as having cognitive impairment.
