Arterial stiffness is associated with orthostatic hypertension in elderly subjects with history of falls
Article Abstract:
The upper-limb arterial wall stiffness is significantly greater in elderly patients with orthostatic hypotension (OH) than in patients without OH and is significantly related to blood pressure changes after standing. These results show the possible role of age-related changes in the arterial tree in hemodynamic response to orthostatic challenges.
