Article Abstract:
Self-reported disability and performance-based limitation and their association in elderly men from three European countries are compared. Cross-sectional data from a cohort study collected around 1990 was studied and cross-cultural variations were evident in self-reported disability adjusted for performance score.

Effect of widowhood on disability onset in elderly men from three European countries
Article Abstract:
The relationship between the onset of disability and widowhood in three European countries is studied. It is found that widowhood in elderly men emerges as a risk factor for dependency in instrumental activities for daily living (IADL) and mobility.
