Changes in blood pressure and risk factors for cardiovascular disease among older Mexican-Americans from 1982-1984 to 1993-1994

Article Abstract:

Ten-year changes in risk factors for cardiovascular disease and blood pressure were studied among older Mexican-Americans from 1982-1984 to 1993-1994 and it was found that major changes took place including a decrease in the prevalence of cigarette smoking and a decrease in mean systolic blood pressure. Similar findings have been made among non-Hispanics. Significant increases were seen in prevalences of diabetes and obesity and for BMI and diastolic blood pressure.
