Diverse effect of inflammatory markers on insulin resistance and insulin-resistance syndrome in the elderly

Article Abstract:

The potential association between different inflammatory markers and insulin resistance (IR), as well as insulin-resistance syndrome (IRS) in a large, population-based study of older, nondiabetic persons is assessed through a cross-sectional study. Studies reveal that the different inflammatory markers are associated with a diverse effect on IR and IRS in elderly nondiabetic subjects.

Chlamydia pneumoniae seropositivity and cardiovascular risk factors: the inCHIANTI study

Article Abstract:

The prevalence of Chlamydia pneumoniae (CP) seropositivity and the hypothesis that CP infection (CPI) is associated with cardiovascular (CV) risk factors and levels of inflammatory biomarkers are tested. It is observed that CP seropositivity is highly prevalent in older population and is a significant, independent correlate of hypertension.
