Drugs and falls in older people, a systematic review and meta-analysis: II. cardiac and analgesic drugs
Article Abstract:
Accidental falls in old people may be linked to some types of heart medication. Researchers examined the use of cardiac drugs and pain killers in the context of falling. Only digoxin, type IA antiarrhythmics, and diuretics were somewhat associated with falls, especially if several different medications were used. Pain killers and other types of heart medication were apparently not related to falls in old age. Efforts should be made to decease heavy medication use in older patients.

Health care system structure and function - and outcomes
Article Abstract:
The structure and function of both health care systems and community resource services have a direct impact on patient outcomes. These include accessibility issues such as adequate public transportation, number and location of facilities, and regulations regarding utilization of procedures. Reforms should focus on correlations between structure and appropriate care.
