Illness representations according to age and effects on health behaviors following coronary artery bypass graft surgery

Article Abstract:

This article examines differences in illness representations, or beliefs regarding the cause of an illness, among young and old cardiac patients. Findings indicate that older patients are more likely to believe that old age caused their illness and make fewer health-related behavior changes after coronary artery bypass surgery.
