Environmental risk factors for delirium in hospitalized older people
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that hospital-room environment is a key factor in maintaining the mental health of elderly patients, whether or not symptoms of delirium are already present. Factors influencing delirium risk include absence of reading glasses, absence of a watch or clock, number of room changes, and the presence of physical or medical restraints.
