Agreement between older subjects and proxy informants on history of surgery and childbirth

Article Abstract:

Family members of elderly patients may not be a reliable source for information about the patient, according to a study of 82 elderly patients and the family member most likely to know about them. Family members gave a reliable history of childbirth but not of surgeries unrelated to childbirth.

Undetected dementia in community-dwelling older people: the Canadian Study of Health and Aging

Article Abstract:

Secondary analysis of data from the Canadian Study of Health and Aging (CSHA) has been used to estimate frequency and correlates of undetected dementia in community-dwelling older people. Findings show a large number of older people in the community have undetected dementia and may be at significant risk for motor vehicle accidents, financial difficulties, delirium, and medication errors.
