D-Dimer and inflammatory markers as predictors of functional decline in men and women with and without peripheral arterial disease

Article Abstract:

The association between higher circulating levels of inflammatory and thrombotic markers and functional degeneration in men and women with and without peripheral arterial disease is investigated.

The ankle brachial index independently predicts walking velocity and walking endurance in peripheral arterial disease

Article Abstract:

The ankle brachial index and peripheral arterial disease are examined as independent predictors of walking endurance and walking velocity levels over short distances. Peripheral arterial disease may impair the function of lower extremities. However it has not been determine if a limiting ability to walk is due to lower extremity ischemia or muscle atrophy.
