Issues concerning the work of Jack McConnell M.D., who after retiring to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina in 1989, discovered that many residents could not afford health care. He founded the Volunteers in Medicine clinic which offers free health services and is staffed by retired doctors, nurses, technicians and other volunteers.
