Idiopathic senile gait disorders are signs of subclinical disease
Article Abstract:
A population-based longitudinal study has been carried out to evaluate survival and causes of death in subjects with idiopathic senile gait disorders using survival analysis of the oldest old within the Leiden 85-plus Study. Of the 126 subjects, 89 died in the follow-up. It was found that the gait disorders are signs of subclinical, perhaps cardiovascular, disease and should not be considered inevitable benign concomitants in the aging process.
