Informed consent fo research on human subjects with dementia
Article Abstract:
Concern regarding informed consent for dementia patient research is rising for several reasons. Recent scientific advances are driving the need for more human subjects research, but federal laws and national commissions have not sufficiently addressed moral and ethical issues. Current court rulings have differed widely, creating inconsistency and confusion over protocols.

Dementia with Lewy bodies
Article Abstract:
Dementia with Lewy bodies has been recognized as the second most common type of degenerative dementia after Alzheimer's disease. Clinical, genetic and pathological information and the direction of future research is examined. Dementia with Lewy bodies overlaps clinically, pathologically and genetically with features of Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease.

Identification of dementia cases in the community: a Brazilian experience
Article Abstract:
The use of a low-cost method in Brazil for the identification of dementia cases in the community is described. This simple method may be used in other developing countries also for the same purpose.
