Lymphocyte count and mortality risk in older persons: the Leiden 85-plus study
Article Abstract:
A low peripheral blood lymphocyte count association with increased mortality risk in older persons is investigated. It is determined whether this association is ascribed to ill health. Results indicate that a low lymphocyte count is associated with an increased mortality risk in older persons without apparent disease.

Cross-linked fibrin degradation products (D-Dimer), plasma cytokines, and cognitive decline in community-dwelling elderly persons
Article Abstract:
The effect of coagulation and inflammatory pathway activation, on future cognitive decline in older persons is investigated. Results indicate that after controlling demographics, functional status and comorbidities, D-dimer remained predictive of cognitive decline.

Reducing frailty and falls in older persons: an investigation of tai chi and computerized balance training
Article Abstract:
The effects of tai chi and computerized balance training, on specified primary and secondary outcomes are evaluated. Findings indicate that a moderate tai chi intervention can affect favorably on defined biomedical and psychosocial indices of frailty.
