Long-term care in its infancy
Article Abstract:
Long-term care in nursing homes faces a new challenge with the arrival of capitated payment and its financial implications. Managed care services try to offer four elements, such as medical teams, comprehensive resources, clarification of care decisions, and on-site management of acute episodes. The team care model, currently in its infancy, requires more input and polish in the years to come.

Attempting resuscitation in nursing homes: policy considerations
Article Abstract:
A study of nursing homes finds that most, motivated by a mixture of common sense and compassion for those very near death, do not follow the standard paradigm for attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Nursing home staff are, after all, the ones who take care of the patients daily and who know them best.
