Patterns of presentation, diagnosis, and treatment in older patients with colon cancer and comorbid dementia
Article Abstract:
The patterns of colon cancer presentation, diagnosis, and treatment according to history of dementia are estimated using National Cancer Institute (NCI) Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End-Result (SEER) Medicare data. Invasive diagnostic methods or curative-intent therapies are less received by elderly colon cancer patients.

The prevalence of psychiatric morbidity and the effect of systematic psychiatric evaluation in patients are evaluated. The evidence suggests that psychiatric conditions and symptoms are frequent in elderly patients with cognitive symptoms.
