The effect of risperidone on nursing burden associated with caring for patients with dementia
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to compare risperidone treatment with placebo for the burden to nursing staff of older nursing home residents with dementia. The between-group analysis of covariance's (ANCOVAs) showed statistically significant reductions in nurse-rated modified nursing care assessment scale (M-NCAS) scores from baseline to endpoint for the patients randomized to risperidone relative to placebo (P<0.5).

Ethnicity and time to institutionalization of dementia patients: a comparison of Latina and Caucasian female family caregivers
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to compare the rates of institutionalization of dementia patients cared for by Latina and Caucasian female caregivers and to explore which characteristics of caregiver and care-recipient predicted institutionalization. The findings indicate that Latina dementia caregivers delay institutionalization significantly longer than female Caucasian caregivers.

Meta-analysis of psychosocial interventions for caregivers of people with dementia
Article Abstract:
The authors examined current research to determine if caregiver services, not including respite care, allowed the caregiver to keep elderly patients with dementia at home longer. Evidence showed that psychological and social support for caregivers was effective in slowing nursing home admissions.
