The effect of raloxifene on markers of bone turnover in older women living in long-term care facilities
Article Abstract:
The effects of raloxifene on bone turnover in women aged 80 and older and reside in long-term facilities are examined. It was observed that raloxifene reduces bone turnover in elderly women in long-term care facilities and that it is comparable with that seen in younger postmenopausal women.

How well are community-living women treated for osteoporosis after hip fracture?
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that postmenopausal women who experience hip fractures fail to receive adequate treatment for osteoporosis. Data were obtained from medical records of 60 women 65 years of age and older who had been hospitalized for hip fracture.

Disparities between black and white patients in functional improvement after hospitalization for an acute illness
Article Abstract:
The differential rates of functional improvement, between black and white patients, after being acutely hospitalized, may result in cultural disparities. Efforts towards the reduction of such disparity in future are important.
