Practice guidelines for evaluation of fever and infection in long-term care facilities
Article Abstract:
This article provides guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of infections in elderly patients receiving residential long-term care. Patients with suspected infections should be diagnosed using appropriate laboratory tests and moved to an acute-care setting if they are clinically unstable, need specialized therapy, or to control infection in long-term care settings.

The national pressure ulcer long-term care study: pressure ulcer development in long-term care residents
Article Abstract:
The resident, treatment, and facility characteristics associated with pressure ulcer (PU) development in long-term care residents are examined. Studies reveal the association of factors like nutritional intervention, fluid orders, medications and staffing patterns with the prevention of PUs in long-term care residents.
