Peripheral arterial disease in African Americans: clinical characteristics, leg symptoms, and lower extremity functioning
Article Abstract:
The description of peripheral arterial disease (PAD) in African Americans and comparison of PAD in whites and African Americans is presented. The differences in leg symptoms, lower ankle brachial index and poorer education were the cause of poorer lower extremity functioning in African Americans than in whites.

The impact of vision and hearing impairments on health and old age
Article Abstract:
A study of the effects of hearing and sight loss on the quality of life of older persons is discussed. The study found that hearing and sight loss can lead to other impairments in old age, along with increased difficulty in physical functioning, depression, social isolation, and decreased activity.
