Iatrogenic benzodiazepine withdrawal delirium in hospitalized older patients
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to identify cases of benzodiazepine withdrawal delirium in a sample population of older hospitalized persons and to determine whether the condition was caused by iatrogenic factors. Researchers found 21 cases of delirium, with each patient more than 65 years of age. Four patients were identified who had delirium, and chart reviews revealed iatrogenic causes for withdrawal in 3 patients.

Therapy for acute myocardial infarction in older persons
Article Abstract:
Several therapies have been shown to be effective for improving outcomes in elderly patients who have acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Among these are beta blockers, aspirin, nitrates, heparin, primary angioplasty and thrombolysis, used in the absence of contraindications. However, antiarrhythmic agents, magnesium, and calcium channel blockers are not suitable for routine AMI management.
