The class effect: is it relevant to geriatrics?
Article Abstract:
The medication choices available to physicians are discussed. Many new drugs have been discovered and medicine prescribers tend to simplify their choices by classifying these drugs into drug classes. The characteristics of a few of the drugs from a class of drugs then become general characteristics of the entire class. However, this form of classification of drugs may not be good enough for geriatrics as slightest variation can yield different results.

Medication adherence in rheumatoid arthritis patients: older is wiser
Article Abstract:
Older rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients may take their medications more consistently than younger patients. Researchers electronically monitored the medication behavior of 121 RA patients for a month. Medication errors were found more in busy, middle-aged patients than in older patients. Physicians should not assume that cognitive decline in old age also impairs medication adherence.
