The effect of equipment usage and residual task difficulty on use of personal assistance, days in bed, and nursing home placement
Article Abstract:
A study to analyze whether residual difficulty in functioning in spite of equipment use is linked with increased use of personal assistance is given. The results propose that residual task difficulty in spite of equipment for indoor mobility and transferring is linked with worse outcomes, including increased dependency on personal assistance and more days in bed.

Activity restriction among wheelchair users
Article Abstract:
Research shows that wheelchair users experience, on average, 11.17 hours spent out of bed, 5.56 hours of personal assistance, and 1.79 mobility limitations per day. Data were obtained from 153 wheelchair users living in community settings within one to three weeks of receiving the wheelchair.

A clinical trial of a rehabilitation expert clinician versus usual care for providing manual wheelchairs
Article Abstract:
The impact of various methods of distributing wheelchairs is determined. Wheelchair owners used their wheelchairs more when it was made available through an expert clinician using a complex intervention.
