The effectiveness of a community-based program for reducing the incidence of falls in the elderly: a randomized trial
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to test whether Stepping on, a multifaceted community-based program using a small-group learning environment was effective in reducing falls in at risk people living at home. The results of the study indicate that cognitive-behavioral learning in a small group environment can reduce falls.

Effects of vitamin D supplementation on strength, physical performance, and falls in older persons: a systematic review
Article Abstract:
Findings are inconclusive regarding the influence of vitamin D on physical ability and prevention of accidental falls in elderly patients. Studies were conducted on 2,496 patients given vitamin D supplements or vitamin D metabolites in an ambulatory setting.

Findings suggest that safety interventions to prevent accidental falls should target environmental and intrinsic risk factors for individual patients. Results were drawn from several health studies.
