The relationship between a dementia diagnosis, chronic illness, Medicare expenditures, and hospital use
Article Abstract:
A nationally representative sample is incorporated to determine whether dementia increases medical expenditures, probability of hospitalization, and potentially preventable hospitalization, controlling for variables including age and comorbid illness. Increased medical expenditure in diagnosis of dementia is due to increased hospitalization.

Incidence and prevalence of dementia in the cardiovascular health study
Article Abstract:
The incidence rate and prevalence of dementia, Alzheimer's disease (AD), and vascular dementia (VaD) in the Cardiovascular Health Study (CHS) is evaluated. Sex and racial differences were not found and new estimates of dementia incidence are provided.
