The role of gender in very old age: profiles of functioning and everyday life patterns
Article Abstract:
The significance of gender-related differences in the psychological and everyday functioning of very old adults was examined, noting that differential longevity and socio-structural opportunities contribute to the difference in the life contexts of older men and women. Gender differences were seen in 13 aspects of personality, including everyday activity patterns, reported well-being, and social relationships. It was further revealed that differences in life conditions and physical frailty as a function of gender may impact on older adults' psychological functioning.

Aging or disease: cardiovascular reactivity in Finnish men over the middle years
Article Abstract:
A study of 902 Finnish men involved in the Kuopio Ischemic Heart Disease Risk Factor Study has found a link between age and cardiovascular reactions to psychological events. Disease and medication both influenced cardiovascular reactions, but age was found to have more of an impact. Aging and hypertension were linked to greater cardiovascular reactivity, while lower reactivity tended to be linked to other cardiovascular diseases.
