A dynamic analysis of the relations between the structure and the process of National Systems of Innovation using computer simulation; the case of the Dutch biotechnological sector
Article Abstract:
A simulation of the network of public and private institutions that governs the growth of the Dutch biotechnology sector showed that the sector follows a non-linear relationship between parameters. Empirical examination of the parameters responsible for the non-linearity showed that the diffusion of regional technological capabilities is primarily responsible. This diffusion of the regional technological capabilities govern the innovation process as well as the feedback loop that determines the rate of innovation and its implications on the market.

Failure and success: the fate of industrial policy in Latin America and South East Asia
Article Abstract:
Protectionism as an industrial economic policy has exhibited both positive and negative effects across different countries. Such a policy aimed at giving a country's exports certain market advantages that would otherwise be lost under free market rule. A technology policy anchored on the Technological Development Company incubator project did not succeed in Brazil. However, a similar interventionist approach produced positive results for South Korea.

A cognitive model of innovation
Article Abstract:
A theoretical framework was created to illustrate the role of tacit knowledge in technical change and how scientific knowledge is utilized in innovation. The model revealed that scientific knowledge acts as a tool in undertsanding and predicting patterns of behavior. It also revealed that scientific knowledge can be utilized to assess alternatives before they undergo empirical testing.
