Asians and Pacific Islanders: No longer the 'other'
Article Abstract:
AIDS is growing within Asian and Pacific Islander (API) communities, both in the US and in New York State. The Asian & Pacific Islander Coalition on HIV/AIDS (APICHA) was formed in 1989 to target APIs for HIV information and services. It has since become a multi-service organization, providing case management, counseling and referrals. A key part of APICHA is its education department which consists of interconnected projects including the Women's Project, the Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender Project and the Young People's Project. It also undertakes research on APIs and HIV related issues.
