Beijing is relying on foreign funding to prevent further degradation: an environmental SOS
Article Abstract:
Environmental awareness in China has been on the rise but it has insufficient funding for answering the ecological needs of its vast population and natural resources. Its ecological problems have been aggravated by the long years of neglect which resulted in pollution from industrial toxins, sewage and pesticides. Its National Environmental Protection Agency has requested the help of developed nations. Several Western countries have heeded the call not because of ecological reasons but because of the desire to break through into the Chinese market.

Financing of marine environmental protection measures in Bulgaria
Article Abstract:
Two special forms of financing for environmental protection have been established by the Environmental Protection Act in Bulgaria. These are the National Environmental Protection Fund and the Municipal Environmental Protection Funds. Foreign funding has been also expected in the form of environment-friendly investments, credits and loans from the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and various kinds of non-repayable assistance.

Greening free trade: debt exchanges for Mexican environmental infrastructure development
Article Abstract:
The imposition of trade sanctions in response to the violation of environmental protection laws in Mexico is erroneous. Strict enforcement is ineffective because the basic infrastructure is not in place. Instead, a novel financing method for the needed infrastructure projects is appropriate. Debt-for-development exchanges will allow Mexico to repay foreign loans at a discount, while providing funds for development programs through local currency funds.
