Competitiveness and cohesion - are the two compatible?
Article Abstract:
A research on the issue of whether cohesion which was emphasized in the Maastricht Treaty is compatible with efforts in achieving competitiveness in research and technological development was conducted by examining Treaty obligations and the assumptions on cohesion and competitiveness. Arguments focused on whether recommendations from regions which are less privileged be favored in funding more than the elite researchers by the 'research excellence' criterion.
