Constructive conflict at work
Article Abstract:
The complexity perspective can be used to explain the dyadic effectiveness of simultaneous and sequential use of problem solving and forcing stratagems in interpersonal conflict and negotiation. This was demonstrated in three conflict resolution situations that required the involvement of Dutch police officers. In each case, it was shown that the use of problem solving and forcing behavior was much more effective in combination than when these stratagems were used in isolation.
