Cooperation vs. competition in a spatial model
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine the element of cooperation between companies in the form of information exchange through communication into the Hotelling spatial competition model. The objective was to develop a model of spatial competition a la Hotelling which integrates a centripetal force and a centrifugal force. Results suggest that the coexistence of cooperation and competition makes a regional economy such as the Silicon Valley a stable industrial system.

Where will we put the garbage? Economic efficiency versus collective choice
Article Abstract:
Waste processing site selection from the voters's point of view differs from that of planners' efficient solution. Planners selection entails practicality in terms of pollution control, disposal, transportation, and externality costs. On the other hand, voting outcomes do not succeed in reducing total costs but voters appear to prefer to have few, distant but very occupied waste processing sites.
