Corporate bankruptcies, liquidation costs and the role of banks
Article Abstract:
The role of banks differ in liquidating insolvent firms depending on a specific bank's assumed relative strength. The weak-type banks are likely to take strong measures against insolvent firms as they desire to acquire a reputation of being tough. The strong-type banks are likely to liquidate insolvent firms to minimize the loss. Liquidation of smaller firms is more likely as it imposes a minimal cost on banks. However, banks are likely to help larger firms to recover from insolvency as they impose a huge burden on the banks.

A practical implementation for solutions to the algebraic matrix Riccati equation in a LQCM setting
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to investigate the computational complexity of the modified Newton-Raphson iteration (BMNR) and its convergence rate. Broyden's method of rank-1 updates were used to derive an algorithm that involved less computation and converged superlinearly. On the other hand, the MNR approach involved O(n4) iterations that converge quadratically. Also, the BMNR method maintains the favorable property that is completely general in its applicability.
