Cross-cultural perspectives on sexuality education

Article Abstract:

The status of sex education in European communities was examined to serve as basis of comparison for the US practices. Denmark and Sweden have had the most success in their liberal approach to sexual education reflected in their open discussion about sexual issues. The same is true with Belgium and Netherlands although they tend to view sex education as a way to prevent teenage pregnancy. Czechoslovakia and the former Soviet Union, on the other hand, regard it as an avenue for sexual repression.
